Titian Class 2019 - 2020
Welcome Titian Class 2018-19
We have made a brilliant start to the school year with our first two whole school Learning Journey themes of 'New Beginnings' and 'Red'. See the gallery section of the school website to view some great photographs from across the school.
AUTUMN TERM UPDATES
Our Year One Learning Journey now takes us off in a scientific direction for about four weeks and we explore 'Material Maddness'. I suspect this topic might include some junk modelling and a look at different types of materials (human made and natural). Perhaps some time may be spent on recycling and the impact of waste on our environement. Our WOW lesson at the start of the Learning Journey will give the children some ideas and inspiration.
The next short Learning Journey which will start at the beginning of November will have History and Geography related theme and is called 'Let's Celebrate'. This of course will start with a brainstorming activity with the children to see what direction our learning will take!
The final Learning Journey of the Autumn Term will be 'Children's Choice'. I can't wait to see what they decide to learn about.

Guidance for Home Learning:
Reading: We ask parents to read with children every evening for 15 minutes - reading is the most important and valuable thing you can do with your child are this stage of their learning. You can read to them, share a book, get them to predict what will happen in a story or get them to decribe a story's events. You can also get your child to read to you for about 10 minutes everyday. Get them to use their phonics to sound out tricky words. I have put a link to 'Letters and Sounds' Phonics below if you need some help with letter sounds.
